RippleSync

Connect RippleSync to Microsoft 365

RippleSync can read your Word, PowerPoint, Excel and PDF files, SharePoint pages, Outlook email and Teams meeting transcripts directly, so you don't have to paste documents into the chat. You can do this two ways:

Microsoft 365 Copilot agent Connection for other assistants
Works in Microsoft 365 Copilot (Teams, Outlook, office.com) Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot Studio and other assistants that support MCP connectors
Who sees your content Only Microsoft Your assistant, through RippleSync's read-only connection, which stores nothing
Setup An admin uploads one app package Add one URL in your assistant and sign in with Microsoft
Licence Microsoft 365 Copilot, or the Copilot Chat included with most work accounts Whatever your assistant needs

Use whichever your company already approves. Both are read-only: RippleSync never edits, sends, deletes or shares anything.

Option 1: the Microsoft 365 Copilot agent

The agent is a package of instructions that runs inside Microsoft 365, in both Microsoft 365 Copilot and Copilot Chat. Nothing leaves your tenant. Paste a link to a key document; it finds the rest in SharePoint, OneDrive and connected apps (Jira, Confluence) where your admin allows, or you attach files. For a decision made in a meeting or email, paste the notes, or let RippleSync automation find decisions in meetings, email, chats and channels every day.

Install it (admin, or anyone allowed to upload custom apps):

  1. Download ripplesync-copilot-agent.zip.
  2. In Teams, go to Apps → Manage your apps → Upload an app → Upload a custom app, and choose the zip. Admins can instead upload it for the organisation in the Teams admin center (Teams apps → Manage apps → Upload new app) or the Microsoft 365 admin center (Settings → Integrated apps).
  3. Open Copilot or Copilot Chat, pick RippleSync from the agents list, and start with "Check from a link".

If people see "You don't have permissions to add this app", a Microsoft 365 admin needs to allow it once:

  1. Teams admin center → Teams apps → Manage apps → open RippleSync → set the status to Allowed and, under Users and groups, make it available to everyone or to the people who need it.
  2. Manage apps → Actions → Org-wide app settings → turn on Let users interact with custom apps.
  3. Or deploy it as an agent: Microsoft 365 admin center → Settings → Integrated apps (or Copilot → Agents) → RippleSync → Deploy to the right people.

Changes can take a few hours to reach Teams and Copilot.

Can't upload apps? Build it without code in Copilot: Create agent → Configure, name it RippleSync, paste the instructions (use Copy the instructions on the setup page) into Instructions, and add your project's SharePoint sites under Knowledge.

Good to know: - Copilot sometimes reads only parts of a long file. RippleSync is told to mark those documents "Partial" in the coverage note rather than guess. - In Copilot Chat without a Copilot licence, reading SharePoint and connected apps needs your admin to allow pay-as-you-go use. Without it, the agent asks you to attach the files.

Option 2: connect your assistant

Add one of these addresses as a custom connector (also called an MCP server or remote connector) in your assistant:

Address Can read Microsoft permissions asked for
https://www.ripplesync.store/mcp Files and SharePoint pages Your profile, files you can access, SharePoint sites you can access
https://www.ripplesync.store/mcp/mail The above, plus Outlook email The above, plus read your mail
https://www.ripplesync.store/mcp/meetings The above, plus Teams meeting transcripts, chats and channel messages The above, plus read your calendar, meetings, transcripts, chats and channel messages (needs admin approval)

Start with /mcp. Add more only if you need it.

Where to add it: - Claude: Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector. Paste the address, then click Connect and sign in with your work account. - ChatGPT: Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced → turn on Developer mode, then Create, paste the address, choose OAuth, and sign in. (Available on plans that allow custom connectors.) - Copilot Studio: in your agent, Tools → Add a tool → Model Context Protocol, paste the address, choose OAuth 2.0 with dynamic discovery. - Other MCP clients: use the address as a Streamable HTTP server. Sign-in is OAuth 2.1 with dynamic client registration.

Then ask: "Use RippleSync. Beta moved from 1 December to 15 December. Check the Invoice Export PRD, the test plan and the sales FAQ." Your assistant finds and reads the documents, then runs the check. If your assistant shows prompts from connectors, you can also pick RippleSync check.

What it can do

Tool What it does
find_documents Searches your OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams files and SharePoint pages
recent_documents Lists files you recently opened or edited
read_document Reads a Word, PowerPoint (with speaker notes), Excel, PDF or text file, or a SharePoint page, from its link
search_email, read_email Finds and reads the email where a decision was made (/mcp/mail and /mcp/meetings)
list_meetings, read_meeting_transcript Lists Teams meetings and reads their transcripts (/mcp/meetings)
record_findings After a check, re-reads each source to verify every quote, and returns the result as JSON and CSV for your team's decision ledger. Stores nothing.

Each document comes back with its name, link, last-modified date and whether the text is complete, so the coverage note can say exactly what was read.

Decisions in email and meetings

When you point it at an email thread or a meeting, RippleSync first pulls out only the decisions (before, after, why, who, when, with the exact sentence) and asks you to confirm them before it checks any documents. If you'd rather it never reads the email or transcript at all, use a decision record from your meeting tool's own AI instead.

Limits

  • Loop pages can't be read as text through Microsoft's API yet. Copy the Loop content into the chat instead.
  • Old .doc, .ppt and .xls files aren't supported. Save them in the newer format.
  • Very long documents are cut at 150,000 characters, and the coverage note says so.
  • Meeting transcripts only exist if transcription was turned on in the meeting.

For Microsoft 365 admins

  • App: RippleSync, a multi-tenant app. It asks only for delegated read permissions: User.Read, Files.Read.All, Sites.Read.All, and optionally Mail.Read, Calendars.Read, OnlineMeetings.Read, OnlineMeetingTranscript.Read.All, Chat.Read and ChannelMessage.Read.All. offline_access keeps people signed in.
  • Admin consent: if your tenant blocks user consent, approve the app in the Entra admin center (Enterprise applications → Admin consent requests). Meeting transcripts and channel messages always need admin consent.
  • Data: the server stores nothing. Microsoft tokens are encrypted and held by the user's assistant. Document text goes only to the user's assistant. See the security page and privacy page.
  • Revoke: remove the app under Enterprise applications, or users can remove it at myapps.microsoft.com.
  • Want it to run in your own cloud? Get in touch through the feedback form.
